Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions, by A. Square

The Great Books and World Classics Discussion Group is a joint project of Northern New Jersey Mensa and Mensa in Georgia. On August 16, we will be discussing Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions, by “A. Square” (Edwin Abbott). This Victorian novella depicts a two-dimensional society in which the women are lines and the men are polygons. The story is from the perspective of a square, who dreams of visiting a linear world, where women are points and the men are line segments. He then encounters a sphere, who tries to get him to understandt he third dimension.
