The Three Kings, by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

January 9, 2027 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
Virtual Event

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882) was an American poet, educator, and translator.

He wrote many lyric poems, which often dealt with themes of mythology and legend. In this poem, he talks about the journey of the Three Kings on their way to visit the newborn Christ.  Epiphany is the Christian holiday that celebrates the visit of the Magi to the Christ child, the baptism of Jesus, and the wedding at Cana.  In many Western churches, Epiphany is celebrated on January 6. The day before Epiphany is called Twelfth Night (as in the Twelve Days of Christmas).  Note that Shakespeare’s comedy Twelfth Night, or What You Will, was written as a Twelfth Night celebration.
