Antigone, by Sophocles
September 27, 2025 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

The Great Books and World Classics Discussion Group is a joint project of Northern New Jersey Mensa and Mensa in Georgia. On September 27, we will be discussing Antigone, which is a tragedy by Sophocles. Antigone is a princess of Thebes, daughter of the ill-fated Oedipus. When the play opens, Antigone’s brother has just died in the losing side of a civil war. Should Antigone follow the orders of King Creon, who has declared that the dead should be left to rot on the battlefield? Or should Antigone obey the laws of the gods and give her brother a decent burial?
